Natural Cures (part 2) Organic Food

June 17, 2010 By: Category: Organic Foods

Just going through some of my experiences so far with switching over to natural (organic) foods and products. Since this video I have increased the ratio of organic to inorganic food and products. I went back and tried the shampoo again, and what I didn’t notice before is that, while it feels dry and damaged right out of the shower, some how it works to make my hair soft and hydrated when it dried completely. Really weird, but cool. Also, don’t expect a lot of suds. I’m pretty happy with it. The brand is ‘Kiss My Face’. Still kinda blown away by the Orange Juice. It doesn’t taste anything like conventional common orange juice (even the lots of pulp stuff) which makes me wonder what the hell is in it. Again, I want to itterate that it has required an increase in food spending and I suspect we will probably need another 50% increase in our food budget to go totally organic. Right now we’re at $100 a week and there are certain things we will only get organic. Milk, cereal, meat, fruits, and vegetables. For organic meat, shop around for butchers and ask where the farm is they get their meat from. If they won’t tell you, don’t buy it. If they do, go see it and don’t be afraid to ask the farmer questions.

Interesting, what you said about not drinking shampoo so why put it on your skin. One toxic ingredient in shampoo is propylene glycol. I’ve seen this ingredient listed in some bottles of salad dressing. I’m sure it’s safe though….right?…right?

Your actions DO define your principles…
even Kevin wont fall for the New age agenda
maybe somewhat influanced by it through the years, but it does seem to surround this Health field, and propigate its doctrines and thats not right.

You have to be careful about using labels. Refering to a group as “passive hippie newager” is actually refering to a set of behaviors, some of which might be very necessary for what you are trying to accomplish. Define yourself by your principles and not your actions and you will find that you have a fractions of the number of conflicts between what you want to do and what you do. Broad definitions are limiting.

(without becomeing a passive hippie newager)
iam careful that alot of newage stuff is around the fringe edge of this health stuff too…like yoga and spiritualism accupunture so on.

It took me months to adjust to the move to regular to organic and I know it’s more expenisive but worth the move. I started last year in July 07 and I have pretty much everything organic or “naturally made” products from food to cleaning products. It’s not easy but it is a lifestyle change that I think is really worth it. I shop online now since everything is cheaper online, that is supplement herbs and skin products. I obviously have to buy my groceries directlty.

  12. Try Aubrey Organics Shampoo, I love this organic shampoo. Best shampoo ever used. and Dr. Bronner’s Magic soups, I used the hemp soup, works very well. Gives me softer skin then i have ever had, and smells great.
